Zimbabwe needs to be fixed - MDC-T

MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu  has said Zimbabwe needs to be fixed considering the fact that 90% of the population survives on a dollar per day.

"With an ailing national economy where more than 90% of the population survive on less than US$1 per day, dilapidated and decomposing road and rail infrastructure, a rag tag commercial agricultural sector,a dysfunctional and severely under - funded public health delivery system as well as an education sector than churns out thousands of university graduates who remain destitute after graduating, Zimbabwe needs to be fixed as a matter of urgency," he said.

"We have got a ruling party that is more focused on purposeless and petty factional squabbling as the economy continues to burn and unfortunately,we also have got an opposition that is more fixated with fighting for positions rather than fighting for conditions to ensure a free and fair election in 2018. One might not entirely be wrong to conclude that Zimbabwe is cursed."

He said instead of offering solid, confident and purposeful leadership to the toiling masses of Zimbabwe,it appears that most of us in the opposition are more concerned about which positions we should occupy in the coalition matrix.

"We are a hopeless bunch of self - serving and directionless opportunists. We spent hours on end scheming and plotting around how so and so should take over this or that position. We are, indeed,a sorry excuse of a focused and goal - oriented alternative government. In our various WhatsApp platforms,we relentlessly propagate hatred, acrimony and malice with so much venom you sometimes wonder whether we belong to the same political party. We should be thoroughly ashamed of ourselves. We are terribly letting down the oppressed and suppressed people of Zimbabwe. We are taking political activism as a profession rather than as a vocation. In a number of cases,we are greedy, corrupt and absolutely incompetent.Surely, the people of Zimbabwe deserve better than this," Gutu said.

"As the opposition,we have to immediately up our game or else we should simply forget about 2018.We squabble and fight over a carcass we haven't even killed as yet.Why are we so greedy? Why are we so selfish? Why are we so directionless? Zanu PF is there for the taking but we are failing to seize the opportunity to deliver the ultimate sucker punch to the collapsing and faction - ridden Zanu PF dictatorship. We,as the opposition, are our own worst enemies."

"We shouldn't cry foul if a viable and more focused alternative opposition platform emerges that is ready, willing and capable of taking the Zanu-PF dictatorship head-on. We should know that we have got no title deeds to the democratic struggle against Zanu PF tyranny," he added.

Gutu said times are changing and the people are getting increasingly fed up with our childish shenanigans and selfish pursuit of political power and positions.

"We should wake up and smell the coffee. If we are not careful,we will get the shock of our lives in Election 2018," he said.
