The Vendors association leader Stan Zvorwadza has been picked by police for making critical statements against President Robert Mugabe's declaration that vendors were a menace in the city hence they have to be moved.

"Zvorwadza taken to Harare Central Police for "undermining the authority of the President". A truck load of police was dispatched to his residence this morning and Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights dispatched a team of lawyers to assist Zvorwadza and have accompanied him to Harare Central Police Station," activists have said.

"More details will follow but l think the charge arises from his comments or article where he said "Mugabe is daydreaming...vendors are not going anywhere..."
