Pricing distortions for several basic commodities continue and consumers are calling for urgent intervention by the government to stop the madness.
Consumers say despite a government directive to restore prices following the recent hikes, exorbitant three-tire pricing models on basic commodities by retailers and manufacturers still exist.
Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers president, Mr Denford Mutashu said government needs to deal with the supply side considering the issue of the much needed foreign currency by local manufactures to produce local products and reduce the influx of imports.
Last year government introduced statutory instrument 64 of 2016 to protect the local industry against the influx of imported products from neighbouring countries.
