The Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Miriam Chikukwa has instructed illegal vendors and pirate taxis operating within the CBD to move to designated sites with immediate effect.

Illegal vending and illegal pirate taxis have resulted in a number of challenges which include loss of lives, traffic congestion and inconveniences to the general public.

Speaking during a press conference in Harare this Wednesday, Minister Chikukwa said illegal vendors and kombi operators should move to designated sites as stated in their operating letters issued by the Harare City Council.

The Acting Town Clerk, Dr Prosper Chonzi urged vendors and kombi operators who are not yet registered to do so.

Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Harare Manager, Mr Benson Basera said the designated sites will assist in the management of waste.

The designated sites are corner Dieppe and Seke roads, corner Simon Mazorodze and Chitungwiza roads, corner Rotten Row and Coventry roads, Golden Quarry road site and Robert Mugabe road terminus opposite Rhodesville Police Station, among others.
