A 21-YEAR-OLD man, Farai Zarira, survived death by a whisker last month after his tummy was ripped open by his colleague during a fight to load bricks on a truck in Mt Hampden.

The accused Bigboy Mbiva Dube (25) was not asked to plead to attempted murder, when he appeared before magistrate Josephine Sande on Friday.

He was remanded in custody to October 23 and advised to seek bail at the High Court.

It is the State's case that on September 25 this year, Zarira was loading bricks on a truck when Dube jumped into the same truck claiming the contract had been given to him.

Dube allegedly pushed Zarira to the ground, stabbed him once in the tummy, leaving his intestines protruding.

Zarira allegedly fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital where he was sutured, as Dube was handed over to police.

Linda Gadzikwa appeared for the State.
