Alliance for the People's Agenda (APA) leader Nkosana Moyo who is aspiring to be president come 2018 has said his government will ensure that the armed forces of the country respect the people's freedoms.

"A just and effective government should respect the rule of law and Constitutional freedoms in Zimbabwe. Our goal is to engage the Police (Ministry of Home Affairs) and the National Army (Zimbabwe Defence Forces), both which should impartially protect and uphold the rights and security of every Zimbabwean citizen with a Zimbabwean ID - not just the ruling party alone nor its affiliates," Moyo said.

"We need a country where diversity of thought, opinion and expression is respected and thoroughly upheld. This is a necessity and what makes us a progressive democracy as a nation. All other forms of progress and prosperity will follow."
