A 37-year-old Guruve thief was finally jailed for seven years on thirteen counts of unlawful entry and theft by Guruve resident magistrate on Tuesday.
The Notorious John Tahwa, who pleaded not guilty since June, was finally convicted and incarcerated by Mr Shingirai Mutiro to an effective 7 year term.
Tahwa had brought untold suffering in Guruve district and had stolen goods worth over $6000.
He was in and out of court since June under trial for all his 13 counts together with his accomplice Panashe Nhau and Lameck Kalunga, at one point he refused to appear before the magistrate lamenting police brutality.
Tahwa is a jail nomad who was pardoned by the Presidential amnesty in 2016 together with his girlfriend Dudzai Shikisha from Kagande village in Chikonyora, Guruve.
Shikisha was arrested together with his boyfriend sometime in June and was acquitted on 27 June after her case lacked sufficient evidence, though villagers of Kagande alleged that she used juju to vex the magistrate.
