JOICE Mujuru's National People's Party (NPP) and its allies today launched a separate alliance ahead of the 2018 general elections to counter the MDC Alliance led by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

The NPP teamed up with part of People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Lucia Matibenga, Zimbabweans United for Democracy (Zunde) and Democratic Assembly for Restoration and Empowerment (Dare) and the signing ceremony was done at her Ryland Farm in Harare.

The new coalition will be known as People's Rainbow Coalition and it will also be known as the 'Freedom Train.'

Mujuru was unanimously chosen to lead the new coalition, whilst all the 210 constituencies were declared vacant. Candidates for the constituencies are to be nominated by popular consensus and or by primary elections.

Terms of the latest coalition is that the parties use a new name, People's Rainbow Coalition (PRC) although the parties still maintain their identity.

According to a source, "Today it was just a pre-signing ceremony, where leaders of the involved parties appended their initials to the agreement documents. Official signing and launch will be in two weeks time."
