Mutare residents have petition the mayor and the Ministter of Local government Saviour Kasukuwere over the water supply problems.
United Mutare Residents and Rate Payers Trust - UMRRT said 163 Dangamvura Area 3 residents petitioned the Mayor of Mutare, Minister Saviour Kasukuwere, MP Irene Zindi, Resident Minister Mandi Chimene and MP Esau Mupfumi over erratic water supply in the area which has spanned over 11 years.
"They also raised concern on the meter reading and billing system of the local authority. They also advised that if their concerns were not addressed they would approach the Court of law for recourse. The residents and ratepayers of Dangamvura Area 3 also cited that the Mutare City Council was struggling to honor its mandate of garbage collection," said the trust.
"In their petition they cited that refuse had not been collected for more than 5 years, each household is paying $5.75 for refuse collection per month which they want removed completely from the monthly bills. These residents cite that service delivery in the city has become sloppy, selective and poor."
