A Harare man was ordered to maintain peace with his mother after she accused him of routinely insulting her.

Kumbulani Ndlovu (24) was ordered by magistrate Lazini Ncube to observe peace towards his mother, Tendai, whom he accused of prostitution.

Kumbulani claimed he hears mysterious sounds at their home at night, leading him to suspect his mother of prostitution.
"I hear sounds at home, sometimes I hear footsteps of people walking in the yard and I also hear sounds of windows opening and closing," he said.

He said his suspicion was fuelled by the direction of the footsteps.

"I usually hear the sounds towards her bedroom and when I ask her, she ignores me, which makes me more suspicious," he said.
Ndlovu said her son demands to be given her pension money and has been trying to evict her from her house.

"He demands the little pension money I receive monthly and he threatens to evict me from the house saying that I have to do my prostitution at my parents' house in Kambuzuma," she said. "He is now playing the role of my late husband."

Ndlovu also pleaded with the court to ensure that her son does not sell household property when he is in need of money.

"He should refrain from selling our property whenever I refuse to give him money. He dropped out of school and cannot get a job and he has himself to blame," she said.
