Mnangagwa allies' suspension annulled

The Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial Executive has dismissed the prohibition orders that were issued to the Acting Provincial Vice Chairman, Edwin Shiri and Provincial Youth Secretary for Administration, Justice Mayor Wadyejena as unprocedural and unconstitutional.

The executive vowed to return the two as provincial members until due process is followed.

Briefing the media after the executive meeting which was held at the Zanu-PF Convention Centre in Gweru, Zanu-PF Provincial Spokesperson, Cornelius Mupereri said as a province, they have resolved to disregard the prohibition orders issued to their two provincial members as due process was not followed.

"The process was unprocedural and flawed, and as a province, we have resolved that until this process has been put on the rails moving in the proper direction, we will return Shiri and Wadjejena as our provincial members," he said.

The province has since written a letter to the party's National Secretary for Administration expressing their discontentment over the prohibition orders which they say are against the party's constitution.

"The National Political Commissar has no mandate to write a prohibition order to any member. The National Disciplinary Committee does not have the prerogative to give a prohibition order in the constitution, and the only organs that can do that are the distrist, the branch and province. The National Disciplinary Committee is a referral committee, it cannot originate disciplinary proceedings. So as a province, we have resolved to write to the Secretary for Administration who is the repository of party documents," added Mupereri.

Shiri and Wadjejena were given prohibition orders based on allegations of gross indiscipline which include churning out hate speech targeted on other party leaders, fermenting and inciting tribal hatred in the party as well as indulging in cheap gossip and lies that cause divisions among party members.
