The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mike Bimha has said that the government is not considering price controls at the moment, but warmed that measures could be taken if the current wave of increases is not contained.
Zimbabwe experienced spikes in prices recently on the back of panic caused by cash and foreign currency shortages during the month of September, which brought back fears of rampant inflation.
This saw people rushing to hoard basic goods and fuel. Bimha said that the government, which is struggling to contain growing volatility in the economy, could go the same route again if it became necessary.
