Police in Kadoma are on a manhunt for an Eiffel flats man who bashed his friend to death using a machete for restraining him from assaulting his girlfriend.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clement Mabgweazara confirmed the incident saying two male adults Kudakwashe Rice and Huston Mphaka were drinking beer at a night club in Kadoma at around 02:00 on October 24 when Mphaka started quarrelling with his fiancé for having an affair with another man.

During the altercation the accused allegedly dragged the female partner outside the club and assaulted her with open hands while booting her all over her body. The now deceased, Rice, then intervened in a bid to stop the fight resulting in the female victim managing to escape leaving the two friends confronting each other.

Inspector Mabgweazara said the accused started assaulting the now deceased and withdrew a machete from his pair of trousers and struck him once below the right ear and once at the right side of the neck and ran away while the deceased staggered for about 20 metres and died.

A Rio–Zim security guard attended the scene and reported the matter to Kadoma police station and the deceased body was taken to Kadoma hospital for post mortem. Police said investigations are in progress.
