South Africa must not envy chaotic Zimbabwe land reform programme

A political analyst Albert Matapo has appealed to the South African authorities never to envy the chaotic land reform programme that was conducted in Zimbabwe saying it was the reason why the nation has prolonging economic problem.
"I strongly and sincerely urge our South African brothers and sisters and those from other nations not to envy or admire the way "land reform" was done in Zimbabwe. This exercise mostly benefited the ruling elite. Most of those ordinary citizens who also "benefited" are still tied to Zanu and Robert Mugabe even today, 17 years after the commencement of the so called land reform," he said.
"Mugabe and Junta are using land as their own personal money which can enable them to cling on power. And indeed this has helped them at the expense of the majority of us. This is why you continue to see millions of Zimbabweans running away from Zimbabwe, choosing to be refugees in other countries and leaving behind that land."
He said it is not easy for many people who are not Zimbabweans to understand this matrix.
"Most non-Zimbabweans take Mugabe as an African hero. I am really very sorry to say that the image of Mugabe that you see is not the way he does things in Zimbabwe. He is a hypocrite," he said.
"The whole so called land reform was just a political gimmick. Mugabe is not sincere at all. I know some people may choose to look at it differently but this is the truth. The idea of land reform never came from this illegal Zanu PF regime but from the people and opposition. The same idea was then hijacked and implemented the wrong way by Zanu. In Zimbabwe it is generally agreed that every situation is Zanu vs the people. Zanu no longer stand for the people but always against."
"Go ahead and do your land reform but not in the Zimbabwean way."
