A 43-YEAR-OLD Buhera woman was recently assaulted by her former boyfriend and his wife after she allegedly visited the man at his Dzivaresekwa Extension home to return clothes they had given each other as love tokens 32 years back.
The woman, Ketai Katimba of Muzokomba village under Chief Nyashanu, is said to have reported Davison Kasekete (47) and Tecla Kayeruza (42) to the police for assault following the alleged bashing on August 6 this year.
Kasekete and Kayeruza appeared before magistrate Tracy Muzondo on Monday this week and were remanded to today for trial on $30 bail each.
Allegations were that on the day in question, Katimba visited Kasekete's residence in Dzivaresekwa Extension in an effort to collect her undergarments which she gave to Kasekete while the two were in Grade Seven in 1985 and still in love.
The State alleges when Katimba arrived, Kayeruza started punching her with fists several times all over her body at which time Kasekete intervened and slapped Katimba once in the face.
In her affidavit, Katimba said she only asked Kasekete to return her undergarments which he took from her so as to enable her to also return his clothes.
Katimba further said when she approached Kasekete for her items, the latter suggested that they proceed to exchange them at the police station, but the officers sent them back and advised them to solve their matter
at home.
She said it was at this juncture that she visited Kasekete's home and was eventually assaulted.
