A CORRUPT vendor has been fined US$50 after he offered US$2 bribe to the cops in an attempt to evade arrest.
Taurai Maunze, 32, of No 3408 Mainway Meadows, Waterfalls was arrested and brought to court after the cops rejected his offer.
Maunze was convicted on his own plea when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Rebecca Kavhiya who fined him US$50.
Revai Mudozori, prosecuting, proved that on February 8 at around 4pm Constables Brighton Chitsike, Kambuwa and Pambanyi were on a patrol when they were tasked to drive off vendors from the streets.
They then approached Taurai who had his fruits displayed on the tables and tried to apprehend him. In his bid to evade arrest, Taurai forked US$2 from his pocket and offered it to the three cops as a way of buying his freedom.
However, luck ran out of the "corrupt" vendor as the trio went ahead and handcuffed him.
Taurai pleaded guilty to his charges prompting magistrate Kavhiya to fine him US$50.
