Mpopoma man accused of stealing $316 worth property

A 27-year-old Mpopoma man has been dragged to court for unlawfully entering and stealing property worth $316 from a 35-year-old man in Nketa suburb on October 28.

Doubt Gasa was found in possession of some of the stolen property worth $150 appeared before the magistrate Stephen Ndlovu who further remanded him.

The accused is said to have given one of the stolen property to a 61-year-old man who claims that the accused told him to take the stolen leather jacket and keep it if he wants it and that he will collect the jacket when it gets cold and thus the jacket was discovered being worn by that man who then became a link of the police officers to the accused Gasa.

 Accused Gasa did not admit to the charge with the claim that he bought the $150 worth property from the people who sell second hand goods at Madlodlo.

"I do not admit to the charge because on the above mentioned date l was not in Bulawayo, I came to Bulawayo and went where second hand clothes are sold and my intention was to buy a track suit for a certain child and then got to attracted to the shoes and African Attire", he said.

Gasa said the officer in charge of his case only wanted to impress the complainant and was not willing to let them go and see where he purchased the property that they claim he stole.

"You wanted to take me to the CIDs only and never had the interest to go with me to verifying if l did buy the clothes there or not ," he said.
