A Harare woman says her husband beats her up whenever she asks for money for the upkeep of their children.
Silvia Muchakuta opened up the Harare Civil court where she was seeking for a protection order against her husband Bonface Muvhiti accusing him of being violent whenever she asks for child support.
Silvia said:
"Bonface is my husband and we have been married for five years now.
"I filed maintenance papers for him in 2016 because he didn't fend for our kids and all he does is spend all the money with prostitutes starving our children.
"So whenever I ask for maintenance he assaults me threatening to kill me."
Silvia said she has scars on her hand as a result of an attack.
"He makes it a priority to come to my house to beat me because I would have asked about his contribution to the upkeep of our children.
"He is supposed to cater for my medical expenses for the injury on my hand but he is refusing," she said.
In response, Bonface denied the allegations saying the two were divorced.
"We separated in 2015 due to her promiscuous behaviour and we no longer reside at the same house.
"So how can I constantly beat someone whom I do not stay with?
"Everyone in her neighbourhood knows that she is a troublemaker, she constantly fights with her neighbours and blames me for the injuries.
"She is lying your worship and she is just creating a scene," he said.
Presiding magistrate Lazin Ncube granted the protection order in favour of Silvia.
