Slash vehicle registration fees, CVR told

The government has urged the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR) to undertake a downward review of vehicle registration fees to compliment national efforts of improving the ease of doing business in the country.
Officially opening the strategic planning workshop in Bulawayo, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Joram Gumbo said government departments must be in line with the national vision of improving the ease of doing business.
Minister Gumbo, however took a swipe at corruption in the Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID), which he said had continued unchecked for a long time.
He said all public officials must be accountable to the law, adding that those who are corrupt will be brought to book.
He urged parastatals to prove such public perception wrong through honesty, dedication and commitment to their duties.
