Cops shoot teen seven times in front of family

Johannesburg - A 15-year-old South African boy was shot dead by police in front of his family in Soweto, Eyewitness News reported on Wednesday.
The teenager, Thato Mokoka, was allegedly accused of being in possession of a firearm.
He was shot seven times after pleading with the police that he did not do anything wrong and that he did not have the gun, the family said.
The police woke the teenager's family up by banging on their door in Dobsonville on Tuesday.
A family member said the police pointed a gun at the boy's grandmother when she opened the door for them.
Police confirmed the boy was killed.
A case was opened with the Independent Complaints Directorate.
