Army thank you, now go back to your barracks - ZUPA

The Zimbabwe Unemployed People's Association (ZUPA), which represents the interests of millions of unemployed Zimbabweans, is appealing to all parties responsible, involved in the addressing issues around the ongoing and week-long crisis to immediately seek an amicable solution.
To take immediate and effective preventive steps aimed at averting the loss of lives even for the accused. We are of the view that the army must now return to the barracks to enable any civilian negotiations by all political parties for a transitional government that is legitimate and representative of the people of Zimbabwe. As ZUPA, we strongly believe that no negotiations to secure a transition to a people's government should be initiated before the army's withdrawal to the barracks and accounting for the missing government officials regardless of their alleged crimes.
Remember some of the missing are elected officials whose constituency and families must know their whereabouts. Our understanding is that there is no coup in Zimbabwe and the constitution has not been suspended. This means there is no martial law hence the judicial process must be followed. The targeted criminals must now be brought before the courts.
Regarding the solidarity march called Mr Lumumba for Saturday 18-11-2017, we strongly believe that such a move will fuel tension and result in conflict and loss of lives. We advise the organisers of such an event to reflect on our concerns and exercise caution as this could present an opportunity for opposing sides to resort to dangerous levels of violence.
We hope that the authorities and organisers will listen to our request to delay such an event given that our country is already at a tipping point. ZUPA has utmost sympathy with the people of Zimbabwe including the army. We are also concerned by alleged reports that other countries are threatening to send their troops into Zimbabwe. We believe that they could use such a march to send their troops and cause a lot more suffering to our people. We are all aware that Zimbabwe continues to go through challenges, but believe that we can only succeed in resolving issues if political leaders, the army and citizens conduct themselves in a way that leaves no one doubting that we are in this together as Zimbabwean-able to resolve our own problems. We trust that maturity and leadership would be employed to resolve current problems in the best interest of the country and its proud citizens.
