'Bogus cops' violently removed from roadblock by angry soldiers

In a twist of events Zimbabwe Republic Police officers manning a roadblock were reportedly removed from the block violently by angry soldiers along Mazowe road yesterday after they refused to produce their police and national identity cards.
According to a police memorandum directed to Officer In Charge Mvurwi three Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) three traffic police officers were prohibited to enforce traffic duties.
"On the 17th day of November at around 09: 00hours numbers 0789539 S constable Rakabopa , 079793 F constable Takunyai and 082780 C constable Ruhukwa, were doing retention duties at Tsatse T\off along Mazowe - Centenary.
"At around 11:00hours constable Ruhukwa flagged down a silver grey Mercedes Benz but it did not stop instead, the driver just flashed light and drove off.
"At around 12:30hours a silver grey Mercedes Benz from Centenary pulled off the road and called two Constables to the vehicle.
"On approaching the vehicle the Constables found that the passenger's seat was a lady in Army uniform with the rank of a major.
The driver was also in Army uniform with that rank of staff Sargent.
"The Army Major asked who had deployed them and was answered and she asked Constable Takunyai to write down his name and station. She was talking nicely.
"At that time the driver of the vehicle jumped out of the vehicle and approached constable Takunyai demanding his Police ID and national ID.
Constable Takunyai told him he was not issued with identity cards from the Depo.
"The driver started to be aggressive and dragging Constable Takunyai to the vehicle alleging they were manning a bogus roadblock." reads part of the letter.
However, after denied identity cards the Army driver is reported to have hand cuffed one Constable Takunyai upon going for Constable Ruhukwa he was refrained by his major.
He is alleged to have shouted that no roadblocks should be contacted until the situation normalizes before speeding off.
Meanwhile, soldiers are in control of the movement of people in Zimbabwe and are currently demanding national identity cards in the alleged coup era.
