'Only Mnangagwa can handle current crisis,' says MDC-T bigwig

OUTSPOKEN Eddie Cross who last month came under fire for showering praises on Emmerson Mnangagwa has reiterated his sentiments in the wake of the axed Vice President's dramatic return to political glory, NewZimbabwe reported.
Events of the last one week seem to have vindicated Cross who told international media on Sunday that Mnangagwa was a master strategist.
"Well he is a barrister, finely educated. He is a brilliant organiser, he is a master strategist.
"This is the man who really rolled over my party (MDC-T) in 2013. He was the mastermind behind that operation," Cross said of MDC-T's shock defeat that restored Zanu-PF's two thirds majority.
"He is a very capable minister. When he was minister of finance for an extremely short period of time, the permanent secretary for the ministry told me that he was the best minister of finance they have ever had and that is praise indeed from the professionals. So he is a man of great capacity."
Besides showering praise, Cross also said there was more to Mnangagwa he described as a ruthless man.
"He is a ruthless man. This is the man who guided Gukurahundi, which is genocide in Matebeleland; this is the man behind Murambatsvina where 1, 2 million people were displaced in a matter of days.
"He is a man who is feared, when he walks into parliament as head of government affairs, the house goes quiet."
The Bulawayo South legislator said the country was submerged in a myriad problems adding that Mnangagwa was the best of the current lot in Zanu-PF to remedy the crisis.
"Quite frankly he is probably the only man in the country who could deal with this at the present time," Cross said.
