Break in thief rapes woman at knife point

AN okapi-wielding robber broke into a Chegutu house where three women were sleeping before demanding $100 and later raping one of them.
The man went to a house along Concession Road in Chegutu on Monday at around 3am and opened the window using a wire before breaking the bedroom door where three women aged 27, 37 and 15 years were sleeping.
One of the women aged 27 then confronted and screamed for help before he produced an okapi knife to ostensibly induce fear.
Mashonaland Wes police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara said he demanded $100 from the occupants but they indicated that they did not have the money and instead produced $5 and two cellphones.
"This did not go down well with him and he forced one of the women who had confronted him to go with him outside the house while ordering the others to remain silent in the house," he said.
While outside the man raped the woman before ordering her to go back inside the house without telling anyone what had happened.
He disappeared into the darkness.
She made a report to the police at ZRP Chegutu.
"The man is still at large and investigations are still in progress but we would like to urge people to give police a full description of their attackers so that we can make proper follow-ups.
"We also would like people to come forward with information on any criminal activities," he said.
