On January 17, 2014, a bizarre story was reported by Zimbabweans news websites.

The story read: a Bindura businesswoman is reported to have died on Tuesday night moments after an alleged sexual encounter with a top High Court judge.

Although the independent Daily News newspaper who broke the story withheld the name of the judge, Nehanda Radio understands its Justice Charles Hungwe.

According to the paper, Gladys Farai Mangwiro (55) had been having an affair with Justice Hungwe for "quite a span" and the judge was at the woman's home when she died.

Police sources in Bindura told the paper that the woman became unresponsive after the two engaged in a sex-act. The judge then rushed to make a police report.

This version of events has been corroborated by members of the family and also employees of Mayfair Lodge which is owned by the late businesswoman.

The businesswoman was later pronounced dead at a Bindura hospital.

According to Mangwiro's first born daughter, Cheryl-Jane Kujenga, her mother had been in the company of a "male friend" moments before she met her death.

"She developed sudden respiratory complications on Tuesday the 14th just before midnight. Attempts to resuscitate her were fruitless. She had been in the company of a male friend who had visited but it is not necessary to reveal the name," she said.

Justice Hungwe spent the greater part of last year being victimized by the Mugabe after he ordered the release of human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa and granted a search warrant to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission to search the offices of three Zanu PF cabinet ministers.
