Terror on holy ground

A FORMER congregant with the Johanne Masowe weChishanu Nyenyedzi Nomwe has been reported to police after allegedly pointing a gun at the sect members at a shrine in Budiriro 4.
Innocent Muguvhe and Owen Nhedziwe lodged a complaint with the police against Clifford Chimusoro, Muchineripi Utete and Taurai Munyika at Budiriro police station under RRB3393/179.
Muguvhe and Nhedziwe told police that Chimusoro is the one who pointed the gun at them while the other two accomplices were threatening to beat them if they did not comply with their orders.
Chimusoro is believed to have approached the duo ordering them to vacate the land they are using for prayer citing that the land is meant for residential stands.
"I told Chimusoro to approach Harare City Council because we got that land as land for the church and not for residential stands. I do not know what got into his mind because he has been our member for a long time.
"He tried to kidnap us because he was forcefully ordering us to get in the car but we refused," said Nhedziwe.
The church leader, Hebert Senda, known as Madzibaba Enock condemned what he termed "an act of terror on holy ground".
"This is an act of terror on holy ground. We go to church to pray and not to point guns at congregants because it is not a war zone.
"It will not bear fruit for people to employ such tactics when there are people seeking the face of the Lord at the shrine. There should be other alternatives people should use when they have grievances not to employ terror," said Madzibaba Enock.
