President Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged the new cabinet ministers to come up with quick-win government-led intervention measures which make a visible impact on the development of the country.
President Mnangagwa said this as he chaired his first inaugural cabinet meeting today.
In his opening remarks at the meeting, President Mnangagwa said the advent of the new dispensation has generated high expectations amongst Zimbabweans, development partners and other stakeholders who rightfully see it as the dawn of a new era.
The President said the meeting comes against the backdrop of major socio-economic challenges that need to be urgently addressed that include the scourge of corruption, the current liquidity crunch, low direct investment inflows and heavy dependency on imports.
He said other militating factors include low capacity utilisation by industry, high country risk perception, policy inconsistency, and the devastating effects of economic sanctions among others.
