The High Court has for the second time postponed the bail application hearing for former Finance Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo and former Zanu PF Youth leader, Kudzanayi Chipanga to tomorrow, Thursday 07 December.

The state indicated that it was not yet ready with their response.

Both parties, the state and the defence consented to the postponement and agreed that the state must file their papers before end of day today.

The two accused persons were denied bail by the lower court on the basis that their release will lead to public outcry, while there was the possibility of the two to skip bail.

The lower court further reasoned that the two were better safe behind bars after their earlier claims that they were abducted by unknown persons prior to their appearance in court.

The two represented by Professor Lovemore Madhuku appealed to the High Court challenging the reasoning of the lower court.

Chombo is facing charges of abuse of office and corruption dating back to 2003 while Chipanga is facing charges of publishing falsehoods or alternatively causing disaffection among members of the defence forces.
