Woman demands in-laws' estate
08 Dec 2017 at 06:10hrs | Views
ALL she remembers is that when she got married her in-laws told her that she was the new daughter in the family and now she is using the same statement in trying to get her fair share of the inheritance.
It seems she misinterpreted the statement and is now at war with her sister-in-law who believes she is not part of them and will not benefit anything from their parents' estate.
Molly Albertinah Chikongoma does not see eye to eye with her sister-in-law Thenjiwe Mutandavare as she is demanding that they sell the family house in Sizinda suburb and share the money.
Chikongoma's demands do not make sense to Mutandavare as she believes the woman has lost her mind.
Chikongoma's husband died a few years ago, but she still wants her own fair share from the in-laws' properties which has caused trouble between her and the sister-in-law.
According to Mutandavare, she claims she no longer has peace in her life because of threats she gets from Chikongoma who wants them to sell the family house.
"Chikongoma is my late brother's wife and she keeps calling me demanding her share from my parents' properties.
"She phones me several times threatening me about my parents' house which she wants us to sell so she can also benefit.
"I ask the court to grant me a protection order as the estate was wound up on 30 December 2015 on case number D.R.B.V 818 /15 but she keeps on bothering me," she said.
She also revealed that Chikongoma sometime in October dragged her to court still on the same issue of claiming inheritance and the matter was dismissed. Thereafter, she turned to threats, forcing her sister-in law to seek a protection order against her.
Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube granted the order in favour of Mutandavare and the respondent did not turn up.
