Opposition hails Makarau

The National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA), a grouping of different opposition parties, has hailed the outgoing Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) chairperson Rita Makarau who resigned last week- for having been consistent during her engagement with them.
This is despite Nera's spirited campaign to have Makarau leave the Zec post on account she held two other positions with the Judicial Service Commission and the Supreme Court.
Makarau- stunned the country on Friday when she abruptly resigned from her post without giving any reasons, amid a plethora of political conspiracies.
In a statement, David Junior Mukushwa, who is Nera Youth Forum head of information and publicity said, even though they had previously called on her to leave, Makarau's exit had created more worry than joy.
