MDC led by Welshman Ncube has said the Gukurahundi issue is far from over despite some Zanu PF officials trying to sweep it under the carpet.

This was after Special adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Christopher Mutsvangwa said the citizens must be given a break about the genocide.

"Mutsvangwa is too excited with latest developments. Zanu pf was behind the mercilless slaughtering of innocent civilians and it remains unfair for Mutsvangwa to dismiss the issue as a tired subject. The Gukurahundi question is very much alive to be killed by some war veterans like Chris Mutsvangwa. The nation is still waiting for answers from Zanu pf. We cannot sweep the mass slaughter of 20000 civilians under the carpet." said MDc spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi.

"I find Mutsvangwa statement to be reckless and mischieveous. The President Mnangagwa and his team should address the issue as a matter of urgency. The disappearance of Itai Dzamara, Nabanyana and Chizuze should be explained. Mutsvangwa and zanu pf will be haunted by the offences committed during the 37 year old Robert Mugabe era. The Gukurahundi issue is not dead and will never die any time soon unless and until a solution is found. We are demanding answers from President Mnangagwa and his party."
