About 3000 Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers in Mashonaland Central province are crying foul over the deduction of their Biometric Voters Registration (BVR) money, Bulawayo24.com has learnt.

According to top cops who declined to be named, officers in Mashonaland Central were allocated $480 for BVR exercise and $10 was deducted from every cop amounting to $30 000.

"We were informed that every cop contributed $10 to the province for expenses, but what is astonishing is why individuals should contribute to expenses of the organisation.

"About $10 000 is alleged to have been used at Mukumbura police station to renovate the roofs that had been blown by the wind.

"Another $5000 is reported to have paid off Big Makanjera who owned the Honda CRV that was burnt in a road accident at 60km peg along Centenary-Mvurwi high way on 24 July2017," revealed the source.

Makanjera allegedly offered his car to Tendai Nehwangura (45) who was officer in charge Centenary to go to Bindura with a suspect who all perished in the accident.

Meanwhile, Makanjera demanded compensation of his car from the province who turned him down only to be authorised by Police General Headquarters (PGHQ).

Makanjera confirmed receiving money from the police but did not want to shed more light.

"They compensated me it was mandatory for them to do that because my car was being used on police duties," he said before hanging up.

However , out of the 30 000 reportedly milked from police officers only 15 000 has been explained to top cops on how it was used while the remainder has not been accounted for.
