Four families who resided at Castle Arms Hotel in Bulawayo are counting losses after the lodging was razed down by fire.

All they now own are their names, which sadly have no documentation to prove it is indeed them and a few clothes donated by well wishers.

The fate emanated from a raging fire allegedly caused by an electrical fault that razed down the once flamboyant Castle Arms Motel on Thursday last week, reducing the building to ruins with tenants left homeless.

"All my things were destroyed by fire including my academic certificates and identity documents," said Mrs Sithabile Sibanda, an inferno victim.

Edson Ncube, a caretaker at the complex has made a passionate appeal to the government through the war veterans ministry to intervene on the renovations of the building which usually houses veterans of the struggle.

The Castle Arms building is very significant as it was bought by war veterans in 1980 as part of the properties to improve their welfare.

The veterans of the struggle are now appealing to the government to finalise the issue of title deeds for them to put in place meaningful development for the property to realise its full potential.
