Tuku unveils youthful duo

NEW broom, old music!
That's the sound that will be heard when Oliver Mtukudzi stages shows with his new band made up of young artistes.
The new artistes come into the fold as graduates from Pakare Paye Arts Academy namely Prosper Mashite who will take care of the keyboard department for the world touring legend, and Keith Musena who will be playing drums.
Prosper has already been spotted in the Tuku backline. He was there at the Tuku Live DVD recording in Cape Town last month.
"I feel happy to be conscripted into the Black Spirit Band. Tuku is my inspiration and a world celebrated musical icon hence playing the keyboard for him is a dream come true as I always anticipated to tour the world with him," said Prosper.
With the immediate changes made by Tuku earlier from the management and recently in the band department, speculation is that the multi-award winning Mtukudzi wants to change the whole system because of trust issues that can be traced to his strained relationship with longtime friend Sam Mataure and other long serving band members.
Tuku's new manager Walter Shai, however, played down the speculation.
"The changing of the band structure has nothing to do with whatever wars Tuku had with his former band members. We just wanted to give these youngsters a chance," he said.
The two new guys are the sharpest tools in the box.
"They were the best students. We couldn't afford to lose them, that's why they were recruited into the senior band," said Shai.
Tuku who is set to release his 66th album billed for early next year titled Hany'ga meaning concern, will perform at the Buyelekhaya International Music Festival on Sunday in East London , South Africa. Among the people he will share the stage with is Ringo Madlingozi who featured Tuku on his Into yami, a love hit which made waves in the early 2000s.
