Mnangagwa delays announcing his vice presidents, Muchinguri becomes Zanu-PF chairperson

Zanu PF President and First Secretary, Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed the new Politburo but has delayed announcing the party's two vice presidents, saying he will do so in a few days.

Giving his closing remarks at the Zanu PF Extra-Ordinary Congress in Harare this evening, Mnangagwa named Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri as the party's new National Chairperson, a position that has been vacant since the party's 2014 congress.

Obert Mpofu is the new Secretary for Administration replacing the expelled Ignatius Chombo, while Major General Engelbert Rugeje comes in as the Secretary for Commissariat, replacing Saviour Kasukuwere.

Marbel Chinomona replaces Dr Grace Mugabe as the Secretary for Women Affairs, while Pupurai Togarepi returns as Secretary for Youth Affairs.

Paul Mangwana is the new Secretary for Legal Affairs, Patrick Chinamasa the Secretary for Finance and Lovemore Matuke the Secretary for Security.

The new Secretary for War Veterans, Ex-Political Detainees and Restrictees is Victor Matemadanda, while his counterpart in the war veterans association, Chris Mutsvangwa is now the Secretary for Science and Technology, a post one held by expelled Professor Jonathan Moyo.

Simon Khaya Moyo returns his post as Secretary for Information and Publicity, Joram Gumbo and Cleveria Chizema are Secretaries for Education and Health respectively.

July Moyo is the Secretary for Transport and Social Welfare, while Munyaradzi Machacha has broken into the Politburo after being appointed the Principal of the Chitepo Ideogical College.

Rtd Major General Sibusisiso Moyo and Rtd Air Marshall Perrance Shiri were also appointed into the Politburo.

Mnangagwa said he will announce the majority of deputy secretaries soon.
