The Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai reportedly attempted discuss the feature of Zimbabwe with the new president Emmerson Mnangagwa soon after the military coup.

Tsvangirai was apparently disappointed after Zimbabwe's newly inaugurated president, Emmerson Mnangagwa announced his cabinet without discussing the issue with him.

Zimbabwe's senior Jesuit priest, Father Fidelis Mukonori told an American magazine, Jesuit Review that "Mr Tsvangirai wants to discuss a way forward for Zimbabwe with Mr Mnangagwa but the president made the cabinet announcement on the day of their second meeting."

It would have been Tsvangirai's wish "that they discussed the issue before the new president announced his new government," says Father Mukonori.
