Zanu-PF wants to cow civic organisations for political mileage - MDC-T

The MDC-T Women's Assembly has described the move by Zanu-PF governor Titus Maluleke to suspend 29 Non Governmental Organisations operating in Masvingo as a ploy to cow civic organizations and be manipulated by Zanu-PF for political mileage.
Memory Munochinzwa, the MDC Women's Assembly national spokesperson today said the decision by Maluleke to suspend NGOs was likely to affect thousands of women and children in the province who are benefiting from donor aid.
Munochinzwa was speaking at the provincial party offices in Masvingo.
"This move simply highlights Zanu-PF's brutality against innocent civilians in the province. This province is hard hit in terms of food insufficiencies and most of these NGOs were doing humanitarian work, assisting with food provision," she said.
"How then are the people supposed to survive given this reality and Zanu-PF's lack of appreciation of what these NGOs are doing? These civic organizations are helping the vulnerable, and Zanu PF has failed to do anything for the people except to create problems. Maluleke must immediately reverse the ban.
"There are so many school children who are going to be affected by the move. Some NGOs have been paying school fees for disadvantaged children in the province and people with disabilities were direct beneficiaries of NGO activities. We want a substantive governor for Masvingo who has the interest of the people and the province at heart," said Munochinzwa.
The Assembly has condemned Zanu-PF's action saying it wanted to create an even bigger crisis for the inclusive government, whose capacity to feed the nation has been greatly reduced due to Zanu-PF's looting of farming inputs and natural resources.
