Mt Pleasant independent candidate for 2018 advocate Fadzai Mahere, who is well known for encouraging people to register to vote in 2018 election on micro blogging social network Twitter, has come under attack on Twitter after she encouraged all Zimbabwean business people in South Africa to demand the diaspora vote from the president Emmerson Mnangagwa who is set to conduct a meeting with them today at the Zimbabwean embassy in Pretoria.
"Dear Zimbabweans in SA, Please attend this business meeting with the President & demand the diaspora vote. Zimbabweans abroad can't be remembered as such only when it comes to remittances & investment but then totally forgotten when it comes to political rights like voting," tweeted Mahere.
A commenter identified as Simplisio muvunde tweeted, "it's a business meeting and you are talking about diaspora vote you should know whether some things should be on page 2 or page 8 somethings can't fit on the same page not even chapter."
"Does the Government have resources to fund the diaspora vote, voter registrationand in which countries should the votes be and what criteria to use and which constituency should they vote, will there be an MP for those in diaspora? enlighten me pliz ," tweeted Cde Victah.
Others suggested that those in the diaspora should come back home vote not to be given the luxury to vote in foreign land.
However, Mahere continues to preach the gospel of registering to vote and does not entertain personal questions.
At one point she was asked by her follower on Twitter on her marital status and she replied by asking the follower to register to vote since her marital status is none of anyone's business.
