National People's Party spokesperson Methuseli Moyo has said there will be no free and fair elections without objective and free press.
The remarks come in the wake of President Emmerson Mnangagwa having promised free and fair elections in 2018.
"There can be no free and fair elections without fair, objective press coverage of the contestants. Free and fair does not mean just the balloting. It means everything. Can someone please whisper that to the junta. Winning a disputed poll will not help the junta," Moyo said.
"It will lead to a quick demise of it. No one will be prepared for another five cashless years. People will bite the tanks. At the end, Mugabe and ED will run in the same direction, together."
