Violent wind yesterday destroyed a hostel block at Sinoia Primary School in Chinhoyi.
The wind blew off the metal roofing sheets to the school's boys' hostels, causing damages estimated at over $2000.
The wind also took a toll on some ceiling boards and roof trusses to the building.
The walls of the building were however spared and remained intact.
Sinoia Primary School head, Mrs Constance Dzakafa said major renovations need to be undertaken on most of the institution's structures which were constructed in the 1920s.
Reconstruction of the damaged hostel block has already begun, with Mrs Dzakafa promising that the work will be complete within the next two days.
