Why hurry to want Tsvangirai retire? - MDC Alliance official

An MDC Alliance official Bekezela Maduma Fuzwayo has questioned why some people in the country seem to be interested in rushing MDC-T leader who is also the MDC Alliance Presidential Candidate Morgan Tsvangirai into retiring from politics when he and the party have not seen it fit to do so.
"Let me put it this way. There is Morgan Tsvangirai the man and Morgan Tsvangirai the brand. Indeed Tsvangirai the man is not feeling well and indeed tired and deserving a rest for him to concentrate on his health. Everyone can see that without doubt. However Morgan Tsvangirai the brand can not at this juncture with seven months to go to elections be easily retired. The brand Tsvangirai needs to be found on the ballot papers now more than ever before," he said.
"That the man Tsvangirai might not be able to go around doing campaigns is neither here nor there a reason to want to retire the brand. Everyone who is backing a united opposition led by Tsvangirai has the responsibility to get to every corner and share the Tsvangirai word. Our wonderful constitution still has the provision until 2023 which allows for a sitting President to retire anytime and the party he belonged to second a replacement for him without going for national elections. So why rush to want to retire Tsvangirai now?"
He said everyone who cares about him and his brand needs to go flat out and campaign broadly for him and not be part of the crocodile tears and dog smile groups that delight in Tsvangirai's low health.
"If he does not improve after winning elections he can then be amicably retired and replaced by those young and fit leaders that are being paddled now some of whom are evidently riding on Tsvangirai's health which is not only unethical but also unfair on the man who made them who they are," he said.
"My vote is not a secret am voting MDC Alliance led by Morgan Tsvangirai in health and in sickness. We need to concentrate on the most possible set up to remove this military government and restore democracy and we only have SEVEN MONTHS to do that. The time left does not give us room to give things to chance."
