Why staff ZEC with civil servants when there is 90% unemployment? - Zapu

Zapu spokesperson Iphithule Maphosa has questioned the fairness of government in using the already employed civil servants in the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) when there is 90% unemployment in the country.

Since the start of the BVR, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has been using civil servants in the process.

"I don't understand this government in Zimbabwe. Unemployment is above 90% yet they have staffed ZEC with civil servants, people who already are on the payroll. To make matters worse, their line of service, such as schools and hospital in most cases, get to suffer under-staffing because the personnel is busy with ZEC business," Maphosa said.

"Why not accommodate those who are not yet on jobs within ZEC and help some souls?"
