President Mugabe prepares to cut his crocodile-shaped 88th birthday cake at the 21st February Movement Celebrations held at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.
President Robert Mugabe said we should not allow our political differences to make us fight against each other everyday. Mugabe castigated non-governmental organisations for attempting to interfere in Zimbabwe's internal affairs.
"We have over 1 000 non-governmental organisations operating in the country, but they come with stupid ideas. Quite often, they support one political party and use that party to work against everything that we believe in," he said.
Speaking at the 21st February Movement celebration held at Sakubva Stadium on Saturday, Mugabe said Zimbabweans should be united in fighting sanctions, defending the country's sovereignty and resisting neo-colonialism.
"The time has come for us to do our politics in a cultured way. Those who oppose you are part of your society. So, no violence, no violence, no violence."
President Mugabe, who celebrated his 88th birthday last Tuesday, said Zimbabweans should embrace political harmony and shun political violence.
"We should not allow our political differences to make us fight against each other everyday. That is why we say, 'no violence'," he said.
He said although the country has made foreign friends, these friends should never be allowed to control the country's destiny.
"Friends, we shall have, but friends shall never turn into our masters. Let's stand together and remain together and enjoy together because the future is in our children together. You must go to the head of imperialism. Yes, it should be eliminated from the head and you should knock the brains out of the head."
He also urged all Zimbabweans to share the country's vast resources.
"We should remain united to prevent outsiders from snatching our wealth from us. Zimbabwe is ours. So, let us guard our resources.
"The British are imperialists; they must get resources from their own country . . . Different countries belong to different peoples. Ours is ours. We reject being slaves in our own country."
