ZIMBABWE's economy is poised to rebound under the wise leadership of President Mnangagwa and his sound economic policies, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Monica Mutsvangwa has said.

In her New Year message to the people of Manicaland recently, Minister Mutsvangwa said Mnangagwa's Government had brought relief to all Zimbabweans after years of suffering and negative economic growth.

"Let's support ED's vision that will definitely usher us into a new prosperous Zimbabwe," she said. "We must believe in our President and the new political dispensation that he brought to the country.

"Let's participate in the 100 Day Plan of Action and take advantage of the enabling legislation and policies being promoted by Government to boost economic growth."

Minister Mutsvangwa challenged people of Manicaland to take advantage of the province's good diverse climatic conditions, diverse fertile soils, proximity to the border and the abundance of mineral resources to develop economically as a region.

"We want to create industries and produce world class products for all markets in Zimbabwe and beyond," she said. "As a province, we also need enabling infrastructure of roads, railway, water and telecommunications so that we can produce effectively and allow people to enjoy the prosperity that comes with producing profitably."

Minister Mutsvangwa promised to help champion programmes of development in the province and challenged people under her jurisdiction to work together and develop the Manicaland economy, as well as the national one.

Mutsvangwa said prosperity under the new political order was possible if all people strive to promote integrity, shun corruption and work positively for development.

"Manicaland is endowed with rich geology with a treasure trove of minerals that include the world class diamonds of Chiadzwa, the gold of Penhalonga, Chimanimani and Chipinge plus the phosphate fields of Dorowa, which makes it a very rich province that can easily fit into the new Government's economic developmental dreams," she said.

"We will, therefore, need a comprehensive prospecting of the mineral resources available in the province so that they are fully exploited, which will attract sustainable investment in infrastructure, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and total utilisation of the highly literate human resource component of Manicaland."

Minister Mutsvangwa said close cooperation within the province would enable it to reclaim its high rating in the human resources development index of the country. She reminded the people of Manicaland of the strategic position the province held in the liberation of Zimbabwe and challenged them to remain peaceful and united as the 2018 harmonised elections approached.

"Observe peace and unity," said Minister Mutsvangwa.

"Zimbabwe is a democratic country where political differences and diverse thinking is tolerated, so that should not create disunity. Let's pray for the country and its leaders as we head towards the elections."
