A Buhera man who could not control his unbridled sexual desire did the unthinkable when he raped an eight months heavily pregnant woman. He has been arrested and appeared in court.
Naison Makanyire 25 of Njanina Village Chief Makumbe Buhera, who was not represented pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Rusape regional magistrate Mr Livingstone Chipadza who postponed the matter to 17 January 2018 when Makanyire will bring his defence witnesses.
In denying the offence Makanyire told the court that he was being framed just because he is a well known criminal in the area.
Rusape district prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira told the court that Makanyire raped the 22 year old woman who was a month away from giving birth at knife point during the night after he forced open the door.
"On 16 November 2017 at around 2200hrs and at Muverengi village Chief Makumbe the accused person forced open the complainant's door and got in. The complainant saw the accused as her torch was on and Makanyire ordered her to switch off the torch but she refused.
"Makanyire snatched the torch and threw it under the bed. He then forced himself on the complainant, who screamed during the abuse but the accused produced an okapi knife and threatened to shoot her if she continued to scream.
"After the abuse the accused person left the complainant's home and the pregnant woman left her homestead soon after the abuse and went to a neighbouring homestead where she told a female neighbour that she had been raped by Makanyire.
On November 17, 2017, the complainant proceeded to Murambinda police station and made a report, which led to the arrest of the accused person.
