Harare West legislator for MDC-T Jessy Majome has congratulated Auditor General Mildred Chiri on her re-appointment.
"I congratulated her for persisting in her service to the nation under clearly difficult circumstances. I also congratulated The Chair of the Parliamentary Accounts Committee - Hon. Paurina Mpariwa for her sterling work exposing corruption," she said.
"I urged the Finance Minister to listen to the voice of God which comes from the voice of the people by ensuring that the Office of the Auditor General's Office is independently funded as demanded in the new Constitution.
"I implored government not to only deal with criminals 'who are around certain people' but for the Hon. Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General, to go and investigate very clear evidence and allegations of pilfering from the poor Zimbabwean tax payer that Hon. Madam Chiri has tirelessly and unearthed time and time again and also recommendations that the Public Accounts Committee chaired by Hon. Mpariwa has made."
She said she also called on the Home Affairs Minister to finally present the Commissioner General of Police Report as stated in the Police Act.
"Can we now see in this hopefully new dispensation criminals around parastatals and other places and those criminals around the reports and recommendations of the Public Accounts Committee - can we now see handcuffs rattling around them and may we now see them trooping to the various remand prisons in the country?" she said.
