President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Saturday has given the country's traditional leaders 52 cars.

The President met traditional leaders at the Zanu PF Convention Centre in Gweru this morning.

Mnangagwa said his government is committed to fulfil its promise to give chiefs cars.

"There are 52 cars here today. 26 more will arrive next week and so on. All of you will get their cars before elections but today we will distribute 42 cars, 6 cars per province," said Mnangagwa.

President of the Chiefs Council, Chief Fortune Charumbira called for the government to reconsider the welfare of chiefs.

Charumbira said the cars available today are not enough for every chief, but noted that those who will not be given today, will be given around March this year.

Mnangagwa also told the traditional leaders that government is ready to assist in building court structures for them.
