A Harare man was granted a protection order against his wife after he approached the civil court accusing her of verbally and physically abusing him in their matrimonial home.
Clifford Chimiti appeared before magistrate Nyasha Marufu seeking a protection order against his wife, Emildah, whom he accused of insulting and assaulting him.
"She beats and insults me at our home whenever we have an argument," he said.
Chimiti also pleaded with the court to restrict his wife from visiting his workplace in the event that he gets employed as he accused her of costing him his previous job.
"When I get a job, she has to be barred from coming there. She got me fired from my previous job when she came insulting me and my superiors," he said.
Emildah, however, disputed her husband's claims, saying that he was lying to the court in order to escape paying maintenance for their minor child.
"Some of the things he said here are lies. I did not play a role in his losing his job. He called his boss and told him that he was quitting his job when I told him I had claimed maintenance for our child," she said.
Emildah, however, admitted to verbally and physically abusing her husband, saying that he always provokes her to do so.
