An MDC official Discent Collins Bajila has said the haulage trucks seem to be dangerous on the country's roads as people's lives continue to be claimed through them latest being Zanu PF Bulawayo youth leader Magura Charumbira who died after the vehicle he was traveling on rammed on the truck.
"Given that on 31 Dec 2017, CIO Deputy Director Nickson Chirinda died after his Toyota Land Cruiser rammed on to a Haulage Truck in Chinhoyi Mash West and, Given that on 9 Jan 2018 Magura Charumbira died when a Mercedes Benz he was a passenger on rammed on a Haulage Truck in Norton Mash West and Given that, everyone else who was with Charumbira inside the Mercedes Benz survived the crush," he said.
"I think that haulage trucks are dangerous on public roads. A National Transport Policy should be set in place to prohibit them from highways and central business districts. It was absolutely necessary that the state be fully and exclusively in charge of the body of Charumbira until he is buried. This might not be the last of such tragedies."
