A MARRIED WOMAN brought her husband to court claiming a paltry US$2 from him for transport.
Edith Maitirwa broke into tears at the Harare civil court accusing her husband Kenneth Maranganwa of abandoning her.
She said that she only wanted him to pay her US$2 per month to enable her to go to hospital for her monthly medical check-ups.
"I am on medication and he is not helping me to access the medicine. I want him to be ordered to give me US$2 per month so that I use the money for transport," said Edith.
She said that she was claiming that paltry figure because Kenneth was stingy.
"If I claim anything above that I know he will not pay it because he is stingy, so its better he gives me US$2," she said.
Edith also accused Kenneth of teaming up with their child to assault him.
Responding to the claims, Kenneth told the court that he was looking after Edith.
"It is not true that I have abandoned this woman, I am doing my best in looking after her. I buy food at home but she always donates the food to our neighbours," said Kenneth.
Magistrate Milton Serima, who presided over the case, ordered Kenneth to give Edith US$20 per month.
Kenneth was also advised to stop abusing Edith verbally or physically.
